Image Use Policy

As stated in the bottom box in every article, all content on the SCOPE wiki is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License This means that every image uploaded onto the wiki must comply with this license, otherwise we could be facing legal trouble.

So when you're using an image, what licenses are good?

  • CC-BY-SA 3.0, the site license, can always be used.
  • CC-BY-SA 4.0
  • Previous versions of CC-BY-SA (2.0, 2.5)
  • Any version of CC-BY
  • Public domain and CC0

What licenses are not good?

  • All Rights Reserved, copyrighted works, etc.
  • Editorial Use Only
  • GNU GPL
  • Any CC versions that include NC (non-commercial) or ND (no derivatives)
  • CC 1.0
  • Anything you can't find a license for.

What about images I've made?

You can feel free to use any images that you've made on the SCOPE Wiki, however keep in mind that by doing so you release it as CC-BY-SA 3.0, and that others will be able to use it as long as they source you as its creator. This brings us to our next point…

Sourcing images?

In order to follow the license's guidelines and verify that the image is compatible with the SCOPE wiki's CC-BY-SA 3.0 license, you must cite your image within your page's discussion forums. You can use this format:

> **Source:** Link Here
> **License:** License Here

If you have any questions or concerns with licensing, feel free to contact Ellie3Ellie3 or any of the other SCOPE Staff for assistance.

Otherwise, if you follow these guidelines, you're on your way to using images in your SCOPE articles legally!
